Horse Shows

BREEZEWAY FARMS HORSE SHOWS

Here at Breezeway Farms we attend at least 1 horse show a month. We also attend all the Scholastic Equestrian League horse shows. The Scholastic Equestrian League is where riders compete as a team for their School. This is offered to grades 7-12. The Scholastic show season runs from January - May.

Is it your first time showing? No problem! Follow these simple steps below:

1. Let us know you want to be in the show!! :-)

2. Make sure if you are riding a lesson horse, that the specific horse is available for the horse show that weekend.

3. Make sure you have the appropriate attire.

- Black show quality approved helmet. I reccomend the IRH XR9 in all black. These are reasonably priced.

- Black Gloves

- Tan only Riding Breeches

- Navy Blue Hunt Coat

- Ratcatcher Riding shirt White is best, colors are OK

- Black Boots (Tall Boots required for riders over 12)

- Hair net ( hair must be tucked under your helmet)

- Belt

4. Find out what riding division you will be showing in. If you are showing you MUST take at least three back to back lessons before the show.

5. Pay day fees and trailer fees BEFORE the show. Please fill out your entry form and pay invoice BEFORE the show. Your entry form and invoice will be in the office. Check the Services page for rates.

Horse show terms:

Equitation:

Judged on how the riders position and how well the rider controlls and cues their horse.

Hunters Under Saddle

Judged on how well the horse moves in the walk, trot, and canter

Pleasure

Same as Under Saddle, however horse should be more "easy going" with a longer frame, "a pleasure to ride." This class favors the "laid back easy going" type horse.

Equitation Over Rails

Rider will be asked to trot over 4 rails on the ground. Rider will exhibit a two-point over the fences, with a sitting or posting trot between. Riders must NOT break gait to the canter or walk.

Walk Trot Hunters over Fences

Same as above, however rider will post the trot and not two point over the fences. Riders must NOT break gait to the canter or walk.
